Every year, Mpls.St.Paul Home & Design Magazine celebrates local Minnesota architects and their exceptional work through the RAVE Awards (Residential Architects Vision and Excellence). Each year, architects submit their best in architectural design in an effort to raise awareness of the many benefits of using a local architect for home projects.

3. Submit entries to the newly oriented categories.

RAVE Categories

$80 Category Entries:
1. New Home: 1,500-3,500 square feet
2. New Home: 3,500-5,500 square feet
3. New Home: More than 5,500 square feet
4. Remodel/Addition: Less than 800 square feet (e.g. kitchen, bath, playroom, areas that are inside or attached to the main house)
5. Remodel/Addition: 800-3,500 square feet
6. Remodel/Addition: More than 3,500 square feet
7. Remodel or New Outbuilding: Less than 800 square feet freestanding residential structure (e.g. ADU, boathouse, detached garage)
8. Remodel or New Outdoor Living (e.g. landscape, porch, deck, patio—open to the elements and/or connected to the landscape)

$40 Category Entries:
1. Design Detail: Interior or exterior detail (e.g. stairway, mantel, sidewalk)
2. Architectural Plans: An on-the-boards residential design that has not been (or many never be) built (plans (including drawings, renderings, or other graphics) submission)
3. Judges’ Choice: Have a special residential project that doesn’t fit in any of the above categories? We’d love to consider it in this new award category.

RAVE Awards Eligibility

1. The project can be located anywhere.
2. The project must be designed by a licensed Minnesota architect (including AIA-certified architects).
3. New construction, remodel, or renovation of an existing residence (the transformation must include significant change to the existing dwelling).
4. Construction completed after January 1, 2019.
5. Submissions may include projects that have been featured in other publications or have won previous awards (with the exception of RAVE Awards).

Submission Rules

1. There is no limit to the number of entries an individual or firm submits
2. Project authorship will remain concealed throughout the deliberations of the selection panel, so please keep company and individual names off of photos and descriptions.
3. Cost information does not need to be included, as it will not be published.
4. The project title will be published, so please make the title clear on all required submission materials.
5. Mpls.St.Paul Home & Design Magazine is not responsible for any submitted material that is misplaced or lost. Please make duplicates of all materials submitted.
6. In an effort to showcase excellence, the jury reserves the right not to select a winner in a category if no winning entry is evident.
7. Submissions will be retained by Mpls.St.Paul Home & Design Magazine and may be considered for future editorial opportunities.
8. Homeowner Consent - By checking the box below, you are taking full responsibility that you have made the homeowner aware that if they are selected, their home could be featured in Mpls.St.Paul Magazine's Home and Design issue and the information will be used in promotional materials. Your client has been made aware that photos of their residence and the design program will be submitted for a selection panel to review. Should the residence be selected, they understand that they may be asked to allow professional photographs of their residence to be taken after June 2024 (at no charge to them).
